You might decide to use a claims management company to help you make a claim for compensation, although you can often do this yourself for free.
A claims management company (CMC) is a business that helps you make a claim for compensation or another type of remedy, for example for mis‑sold financial products, personal injury, or unfair treatment.
A CMC can assess your claim, handle paperwork, and communicate with the organisation you are claiming against. It may also pass your case to a lawyer or represent you during part of the process.
CMCs usually charge a fee for their service, often taken as a percentage of any money you receive.
You do not have to use a CMC. You can often make a claim yourself for free, or use free official services such as the Financial Ombudsman Service.
