Professional misconduct, contrary to Core Duty 5 and/or rC8 of the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England and Wales as contained in the Bar Standards Board Handbook (Versions 3 and 4).
Offence details:

Mr Ahtiq Raja, a barrister and BSB regulated person, behaved in a way which is likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in him or in the profession, in that he dishonestly retained an overpayment of gift aid to his charity in the sum of £238,787.50 made on 18 July 2016. For this he was convicted before the Crown Court sitting at Northampton on 31 October 2019 and sentenced on 14 January 2020 to a 24- month Community Order, with 15 days rehabilitation activity requirement and 200 hours unpaid work, and to pay a victim surcharge of £85.00.
