Decision details

Kamberley Solicitors has been granted permission under Section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974 to employ Azfar Bajwa as a paralegal, subject to the following conditions:

  1. Mr Bajwa’s work at all times will be directly supervised by Wei-Ling Choi (SRA number 30016).
  2. Mr Bajwa’s employment is limited to that described in the Section 41/43 approval of employment application form received on 21 January 2022 and Miss Choi’s email dated 22 March 2022.
  3. Mr Bajwa shall not have any responsibility for or be involved in the training or supervision of any other employee at Kamberley Solicitors.
  4. Mr Bajwa may only conduct interviews with clients or take instructions from clients under the supervision of Wei-Ling Choi (SRA number 30016).
  5. Mr Bajwa may not undertake any Judicial Review work.
  6. Mr Bajwa must not be held out as a solicitor. Mr Bajwa’s status as a nonsolicitor must be made clear to clients.
  7. The supervision arrangements and job description may not be varied without our prior written approval.
  8. This approval will lapse if Mr Bajwa’s employment with Kamberley Solicitors is
  9. This approval and the conditions attached to it are subject to review at the absolute discretion of the SRA.

In these conditions the terms are as defined in the SRA Glossary.

Reasons/basis

Azfar Bajwa was struck off the roll of solicitors on 25 October 2017. In accordance with Section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974, any solicitor wishing to employ or remunerate him in connection with their practise as a solicitor must obtain the SRA’s approval. The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.
