This outcome was reached by SRA decision.

Decision details

  1. Ms Bowler may remain a member of Shoosmiths LLP, and therefore continue to hold the role of manager in that firm, subject to the SRA’s approval of arrangements by Shoosmiths LLP for her supervision.

Decision details

Susan Bowler’s practising certificate for 2022/2023 is subject to the following conditions:

  1. Ms Bowler may remain a member of Shoosmiths LLP, and therefore continue to hold the role of manager in that firm, subject to the SRA’s approval of arrangements by Shoosmiths LLP for her supervision.
  2. Other than in her current role at Shoosmiths LLP, in the event Ms Bowler wishes to become a manager or owner of an authorised body, she is required to make an application to the SRA for prior approval.
  3. Other than as specified in the conditions above, Ms Bowler may act as a solicitor only as an employee and only where the employment has first been approved by the SRA.

In these conditions the terms are as defined in the SRA Glossary.

Reasons/basis

The above interim conditions are made under rule 3.2 of the SRA Regulatory and Disciplinary Procedure Rules, which states that at any stage an authorised decision maker may, pending a final decision by the SRA or the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, impose interim conditions on the practising certificate of a solicitor.
