Outcome of SDT Hearing

This notification relates to a Decision to prosecute before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which reaches its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Respondent. The Tribunal had certified that there was a case to answer.

The matter was heard on 12 and 13 February 2019.

Mr. Ali was Struck Off the Roll.

On 15 October 2019 the High Court ordered (by consent) that the decision of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal be quashed and that the matter be remitted back to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for reconsideration.

The re-hearing took place on matter was heard on 8 July 2020.  

Mr. Ali was Struck Off the Roll.

Mr Ali appealed the above decision.  On 11 October 2021, the High Court handed down the judgment, and on 25 October 2021 it handed down the order, dismissing his appeal.

Mr Ali asked the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal the High Court decision.  On 08/03/22 the Court of Appeal refused his application.

The SDT Order and Findings therefore remain in force.
